A profusely bleeding five-year-old girl, allegedly raped, was found abandoned on the roadside in Mauli Jagran on Wednesday night at about 9:30 pm.

Sources said that a passerby found the girl and rushed her to the Manimajra civil hospital and informed the police.
The girl had been given medical aid, before the police reached the spot.
Deputy superintendent of police (east) Anjitha Chepyala herself went to the spot to carry out investigations. The investigations were on till the filing of the report and the police were questioning people staying near the spot on whether they had noticed any suspicious movements and anyone leaving the victim at the spot.
Gulshan, the passerby, who noticed the girl, said: “Her mouth was tied with a cloth and she was lying near a nallah at Mauli Jagran. I was having soup from a roadside vendor, when I noticed the child. She was in a pitiable condition and I decided to help her.”
Squabble over jurisdiction Meanwhile, after reaching the spot the Chandigarh police reportedly claimed that the area fell under the jurisdiction of the Panchkula Police, with the latter claiming that the case was under the jurisdiction of Chandigarh Police.
Her parents were later identified and rushed to the hospital.
