In a major political development, Shashi Sharma, a former Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC) leader, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in presence of party state president Ram Bilas Sharma.
Sharma had hit the headlines last week, when he had resigned from HJC and had lodged a complaint against Haryana Jan Chetna president Venod Sharma. He had contested elections on HJC ticket in the last assembly elections in 2009.
Ambala MP Rattan Lal Kataria, Banto Kataria, Gian Chand Gupta, Sanjay Tandon, BB Singhal and others were also present.
Soon after joining, Sharma said he was lured by the Congress and INLD but he opted for a party with the right ideology, which had the will to work for the common man.
He joined the party with Suresh Kaushal and hundreds of his supporters, gathered in large numbers outside his house. Ram Bilas Sharma said the party would be strengthened by his induction.
Meanwhile, the BJP organised a function to mark the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan in Sector 15. Senior party leaders Ambala MP Rattan Lal Kataria, BJP candidate Gian Chand Gupta and other including Vishal Seth, Sham Lal Bansal, BB Singhal, and Vikas Paul attended.
On the occasion, Kataria emphasised the need to keep our environment clean, adding that each one of us should take a pledge towards a clean India. Gian Chand Gupta also appealed to people to keep their surroundings clean the same way as they kept their houses clean. He also extended greetings on Gandhi Jayanti.
