Fresh norms on GPF accounts

The Punjab government has issued fresh guidelines to maintain the general provident fund (GPF) of Class-4 employees (now group D) in the state. Stating this on Monday, an official spokesman said a new pension scheme was implemented for employees recruited after January 1, 2004, on which the deduction for GPF was not applicable.

He said the GPF accounts were earlier maintained by heads of respective departments, but now the same for groups A, B and C would be maintained by the account maintaining officer. He added that the GPF accounts for group D would also be maintained district-wise.
