After being denied the opportunity to represent the country in the qualifiers, Geetika had filed a petition against the Wrestling Federation of India, which had dropped her from the squad despite winning the selection trial. The court, on Friday, ordered WFI to include her in the squad.
Earlier during the selection trials held on April 19, Geetika defeated Alka, but later, the federation decided to hold a re-trial. Upon being approached by Geetika, the ministry intervened, directing her not to appear for the re-trial. After that, the WFI dropped both the grapplers and picked Anita instead.
