Girl caught in stone pelting loses sight in left eye

An 18-year-old resident of Sector 26, Seema, lost the vision in her left eye after the train on which she was returning to the city after meeting her relatives on Diwali was targeted by stone pelters near Lalru in SAS Nagar, on October 21.

Seema, who suffers from a congenital defect in the legs, was on the Pashchim Express that connects Mumbai to Chandigarh when the incident took place at around 4:15 in the evening. She had boarded the train at Neem Ka Thana in Rajasthan.

The Class-8 student at the Government School, Sector 26, was taken to the PGIMER in Chandigarh, where she was operated upon. However, she is now completely blind in the left eye.

The Government Railway Police have registered a case against unidentified people at the Lalru police station.
