Government hikes MSP in wheat

The central government Wednesday hiked the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of wheat for 2012-13 to Rs 1,350 per quintal, up by Rs.65 over last year.

The decision was taken by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, Finance Minister P. Chidambaram said.

The cabinet had earlier asked the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices to consider hiking the MSP of wheat, which was earlier priced at Rs 1,285.
