HC grants bail to Daljit Bittu
The Punjab and Haryana high court on Thursday granted bail to Shiromani Akali Dal (Panch Pardhani) chairman Daljit Singh Bittu in a case registered against him by the Ludhiana police in September 2012 under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.

The Punjab and Haryana high court on Thursday granted bail to Shiromani Akali Dal (Panch Pardhani) chairman Daljit Singh Bittu in a case registered against him by the Ludhiana police in September 2012 under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.
But the relief from the high court would not free him from the central jail, Amritsar, where he has been confined, since there are some other cases registered against him which are pending trial.
The case came up for hearing before the court headed by justice Inderjit Singh on Thursday. Bittu had submitted that it was due to political vendetta that he had been falsely implicated in the case.
