HC stays transfer of Faridkot SDM

The Punjab and Haryana high court has stayed the transfer order of Faridkot subdivisional magistrate (SDM) Vijay Kumar Syal, which is by his submission, his 15th in four years. He is to retire in July 2016 and he has 45% disability on account of the right hip replacement.

Syal, who holds additional charge of district transport officer (DTO), was transferred to Dharkalan as SDM with additional charge of land acquisition collector (LAC) and additional deputy commissioner (resettlement and rehabilitation), Ranjit Sagar dam project. "The government policy says that any employee left with two years of service has to be retained at the same place," he had submitted.


The high court single-judge vacation bench of justice Raj Mohan Singh, which stayed the transfer order, also issued a notice to the government for July 10.
