A spokesman stated that as directed by the CM, the principal secretary, finance, had held a video conference with deputy commissioners and bank officers to review the progress of the scheme.
He said 20,328 camps had been organised by the banks for opening accounts under the scheme in Punjab. He added that more than 22 lakh bank accounts had already been opened.
The spokesman said deputy commissioners and banks were jointly conducting a survey of all families in their respective districts to find out how many of them were not availing banking facilities.
