Shikha Kaur was killed while her 17-year-old friend Amandeep Kaur was wounded due to firing at Peedal village, 25 km from here on November 7.

Following the initial investigation, the police had named Gurdev Singh (20), Shikha's distant relative, as the main accused in the case.

Gurdev's friend Sandeep Kumar was arrested on the day of crime for providing his motorcycle, which was allegedly used in the crime. The motorcycle was later recovered by the police from a village in the district.

However, Shikha's family has started casting doubts on the police version. After the police failed to extract more information from Sandeep, a local court had sent him in the judicial remand on Monday.
