“We have deployed two teams, comprising three to four personnel each, to search for bodies in the Beas from Dehra to Sansarpur terrace where the Pong Dam is situated,” he added.

At least 24 students of Hyderabad were washed away in the Beas River that saw a flashflood after a sudden release of water from the Larji Hydropower project reservoir at Thalout near Mandi on June 8.

The rescue teams, so far, have recovered only eight bodies. There are apprehensions that the bodies might have been swept in the downstream of Pandoh Dam by strong currents. The Beas has shallow waters in the Kangra district and there are possibilities of recovering the bodies in this stretch.
