Karnal trader shot at, robbed of Rs 85,000

Two unidentified persons shot at a local cloth trader Atam Prakash near national highway-1 in Karnal on Friday morning and snatched a bag containing Rs 85,000 from him.

Two unidentified persons shot at a local cloth trader Atam Prakash near national highway-1 in Karnal on Friday morning and snatched a bag containing Rs 85,000 from him.

A resident of Sector 6, Prakash suffered a bullet injury in the back and was admitted at a local hospital in a critical condition.

Doctors attending on Prakash said that the victim had suffered ample blood loss but his condition was under control by afternoon.

Victim's family members said that Prakash used to frequent New Delhi in connection with his business. He was on way to Karnal railway station on his motorcycle today to board a train to Delhi.

But as he reached near Government College, two motorcycle-borne youths shot at him. Eyewitnesses claim that the assailants missed their first shot but the second hit Parkash in his lower back. Passersby took the victim to the hospital. Police have started a combing operation to nab the accused.
