Karva chauth to be celebrated in jails
The Punjab jails department has allowed women inmates to meet their husbands inside prisons on karva chauth from 8pm to 9.30pm on Friday.

The Punjab jails department has allowed women inmates to meet their husbands inside prisons on karva chauth from 8pm to 9.30pm on Friday.
"We intend to help women who are behind bars. Our aim is to change the notion that jail inmates can only be punished," said jails minister Sarwan Singh Phillaur in a statement here on Thursday.
Special arrangements will be made in the evening for the 'katha' and evening tea along with food arrangements in the night after the fast is completed.
