Magisterial probe ordered into Hyderabad communal clash

The clash had broken out after the Nishan Sahib (religious flag) of a gurdwara was burnt; and three persons from the other community were killed reportedly in police firing later. Curfew remained in place within the Rajendranagar police station limits of Hyberabad Police Commissisonerate, even as an uneasy calm prevailed.
The governor, who reviewed the police firing incident with senior cops, also announced an ex gratia of Rs 6 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each to the grievously injured, besides free medical treatment. At least 17 persons, including 10 police personnel, were injured in heavy stone-pelting in the clash.
“The curfew is continuing...situation is peaceful and under control...no untoward incidents have been reported,” Hyberabad joint commissioner of police Y Gangadhar told PTI. A large number of police personnel, including central paramilitary forces, were deployed in the area to maintain law and order. Some troublemakers were taken into custody and were being questioned about their alleged role in the incident, police sources said. (with PTI inputs)
