The Amritsar (rural) Police have registered a case against a person who fired blank gunshots as a mark of celebration at a wedding where cabinet minister Bikram Majithia was present.

Sources said as soon as the two shots were heard Majithia personally scolded the man, whose identity was not revealed. The SAD leader was very angry and even pulled up some police officials present there, said a source. Late the police registered a case and also seized the .32-bore revolver.

SSP PS Virk said, "The minister was near stage when it took place. Taking it seriously, we have registered a case against the person under section 336 (endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC)."

Sources said that since Majithia is in the category of highly protected persons, a probe has also been marked by the DIG (security).
