Man gets three-year jail for carrying opium
The court of MM Dhonchak, special judge, Kurukshetra, under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, on Monday convicted Bahadur Singh, son of Arjun Singh, a resident Patiala district, presently residing in Chandigarh, for keeping in his possession 260-gm opium and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for three years and to pay a fine of Rs 40,000.

The court of MM Dhonchak, special judge, Kurukshetra, under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, on Monday convicted Bahadur Singh, son of Arjun Singh, a resident Patiala district, presently residing in Chandigarh, for keeping in his possession 260-gm opium and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for three years and to pay a fine of Rs 40,000.
In default of the payment of fine, Bahadur has been ordered to undergo simple imprisonment for five months. An FIR under Section 18 of the NDPS Act was registered at Ismailabad police station in Kurukshetra against Bahadur Singh on the facts that on July 26 last year he was arrested with the contraband.
