The local police arrested a man for stealing music systems and other accessories from nearly 15 cars parked at separate areas at Dhanas on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday.
According to information, the police received a call from a complainant who said windowpanes of some vehicles parked in Chaman Colony, Dhanas, had been broken, following which the police team reached the spot.
After some time, another call was received at PCR stating that windowpanes of cars had been broken and accessories of vehicles parked in Ambedkar and Aman Colony, Dhanas, had been stolen.
Six held for robbing cyclist of Rs 1,780
Moreover, the local police also arrested six persons in another case who allegedly robbed a cyclist of Rs 1,780 and a mobile phone. The complainant alleged that when he was going towards Dhanas village on his bicycle around six youths blocked his way and thrashed him.
In the meantime, the police received another complaint of snatching around 7am during the ongoing operation on the earlier complaints.
Soon the police figured out that the same gang was involved in the crime in both the cases after which the accused were arrested from a jungle area in Dhanas.
Assistant sub-inspector (ASP) Guriqbal Singh Sidhu said total seven persons were arrested in separate cases. Police recovered Rs 1780, three mobiles phones along with snatching mobile Intex from their possession.
The accused, who broke the windowpanes of car was identified as Gurpreet Singh (19), while the other six who robbed a cyclist at Dhanas were identified as Ajay, Shubham, Shamu, Kamal Raj, Rahul and Deepak, the ASP said.
He said police also recovered one woofer, three speakers, stereo, jack, tools and documents stolen from 15 cars from Gurpreet.
The ASP added they were yet to arrest the accomplice of Gurpreet.
