Man killed in accident

A 26-year-old resident of Nayagaon was killed in a road accident here on Tuesday.The victim has been identified as Simarjit Singh, who was on his way back home when his motorcycle rammed into an electricity pole at the Sector 10/11 dividing road.

Police were informed and the victim was rushed to Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) where doctors declared him brought dead.

Giving details, station house officer (SHO), Sector 3 police station, Jaspal Singh, said the victim, who was working in a government department in Chandigarh, was under influence of liquor. He was wearing a substandard helmet and his head hit the pole as a result, he sustained serious injuries on head and other parts of the body.
