The Chandigarh municipal corporation on Wednesday carried out cleanliness drive under the Swachch Bharat Abhiyan in Mauli Jagran, Vikas Nagar, Shivalik Enclave and Motor Market, Manimajra.

Garbage, horticulture waste and debris were removed and lifted from the open spaces during the drive.

The cleaning operation was carried out in the presence of area councillor Rajinder Kaur and other prominent leaders of Mauli Jagran Colony. Residents were apprised of the fact that polythene bags were banned in Chandigarh and they should avoid using the same in future.

Students of various schools were given education regarding cleanliness and an awareness rally was also conducted to spread the message of cleanliness among the residents.
