MC Polls: Paid holiday on Feb. 22 polling day for factories, shops

The Punjab labour department has declared February 22 as weekly paid holiday for the workers of factories, shops and other commercial establishments to enable them to cast their vote in the corporation elections.

It would be a paid holiday within the municipal limits of 6 municipal corporations-Pathankot, Phagwara (Kapurthala), Hoshiarpur, Bhatinda, Moga, S.A.S.Nagar, and two wards (8 and 46) of Municipal Corporation Patiala and one ward (49) of Municipal Corporation Jalandhar, a spokesman here stated.

A separate notification has also been issued for the weekly paid holiday for all factories, shops and commercial establishments for that day in the said jurisdictions.
