Minor among two killed in mishaps in Kharar

The victim, who died on the spot, has been identified as Rajan, son of Inderpal Singh.
According to sources, truck driver Amrik Singh, a resident of Batala village near Kharar, was on his way back after unloading the truck in the grain market, when the boy came in front of the truck. The driver failed to apply brakes following which the child was crushed under the wheels.
The driver is at large and a case has been registered against him.
In a separate accident, Jagmeet Singh, 32, was killed when a speeding tractor trolley hit him from behind on Friday evening. He was coming to Kharar from Chandigarh on his motorcycle.
The victim was a resident of ward no 2, Mundi Kharar.
According to information, the tractor-trolley driver was driving rashly and hit the motorcycle near the tax barrier on the SAS Nagar-Kharar highway.
The victim was rushed to Phase 6 hospital, SAS Nagar, from where he was referred to Government Multi-Specialty Hospital, Sector 16, Chandigarh, but he succumbed to his injuries.
Tractor-trolley driver Mandeep Singh, a resident of Jandpur, has been booked, but is absconding.
