National Awards: Punjab 1984 is best Punjabi film

As the names of the winners of 62nd National Film Awards were announced on Tuesday, “Punjab 1984” was declared as the best Punjabi film, while “Pagdi The Honour” bagged the best film award in the Haryanvi category.

Appreciated by the critics and audience alike, Punjab 1984 tells the story of a mother who is in search of her son during 1984 anti-Sikh riots. Directed by Anurag Singh, it stars Diljit Dosanj, Kirron Kher and Sonam Bajwa in pivotal roles.

“Pagdi The Honour” has been directed by Rajeev Bhatia and tells the story of a patriarchal society.



Meanwhile, Queen has been named as the Best Hindi film and Kangana Ranaut has been adjudged the Best Actress for her performance in the movie. Kannada actor Vijay won the Best Actor for Nanu Avanalla Avalu while Bengali director Srijit Mukherji won the Best Director award for Chotushkone. Court has been declared the Best Feature film.
