"The 1,150-metre long flyover, which has been designed by the National Highways Authority of India, will begin from the Bhankharpur railway overbridge and end near the Sukhmani Engineering College. Initial preparations for the construction have been made and the work will start very soon,"he added.

Sharma noted the busy highway remained choked most of the time, resulting in interminable traffic
jams, which made it more prone to vehicular accidents.

"In addition to this project, four rail underbridges around Dera Bassi are in the pipeline. The area is being developed as a role model for development in the state,"he added.
