"No girl in this country should go through what my daughter went through. She was driven to death by (former Haryana director general of police SPS) Rathore," a weeping Girhotra said at the suburban Panchkula house of Anand and Madhu Prakash, the couple who fought for his daughter's case for the last 19 years.
He said his family was "still terrified" and sought security.
Fourteen-year-old Ruchika committed suicide three years after she was molested by Rathore, on August 12, 1990.
Rathore was on Monday convicted by a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) special court here and sentenced to six months' imprisonment and a fine of only Rs 1,000. He was immediately bailed out.
