Former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh today said outsiders were welcome into the Congress but not at the expense of loyal workers and leaders.
"People are welcome to join the Congress, but at the same time the interest of all those who have long association with the party should be safeguarded," he said in a statement here.
Amarinder was reacting to media reports that some leaders from the ruling Akali Dal-BJP combine in Punjab were keen to join the Congress.
The former Chief Minister said a number of leaders were disenchanted with the ruling alliance and were looking forward to join the Congress.
