These are Gurwinder Singh alias Bawa Panesar and Gursewak Singh, who were arrested by the state cyber cell, SAS Nagar, on July 8 for allegedly uploading the video on YouTube showing some pilgrims beating Pannu and taking off his turban.

According to the police officials, the Uttarakhand police had taken the two on transit remand for investigation of their alleged role in assaulting Pannu at Gobind Ghat in Uttarakhand on June 25 while he was supervising the flood relief works.

Uttarakhand Police had registered an FIR on June 29 in the incident against unidentified people. It had procured the video of the incident where several attackers were clearly visible. The case was registered at Joshimath.
