Police identify four accused in robbery case

Three days after a Nayagaon resident was allegedly robbed of Rs 2.5 lakh after being blinded by chilli power near Khuda Alisher, the Chandigarh Police claim to have identified the four robbers and arrested two of them.

Three days after a Nayagaon resident was allegedly robbed of Rs 2.5 lakh after being blinded by chilli power near Khuda Alisher, the Chandigarh Police claim to have identified the four robbers and arrested two of them.

However, the police did not divulge details of the accused.

The victim, Mandeep Kumar, a painter by profession, had alleged on Wednesday night that he was robbed of `2.5 lakh while he was on his way back home from the SBI branch at Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER).

He had told the police that he was on a scooter, when some unidentified men intercepted him and snatched his money after throwing chilli powder into his eyes. He said an amount of Rs 2.5 lakh was in the bag that the miscreants had snatched, while he had kept Rs 50,000 in his pocket.

Kumar had told the police that he had earned the money by selling sand and bricks, following which police said one of the perons involved in the deal had sent the robbers to snatch the money.
