PPCC general secy Chhinna joins SAD

The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Sunday got a shot in the arm on Sunday as Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) general secretary Joginder Singh Chhinna joined it along with his supporters in the presence of party president Sukhbir Singh Badal here.

Master Harcharan Singh Chinna of Dhariwal, a Congressman with influence in the Qadian assembly segment, also joined the SAD.

“The revolt against Punjab Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa has been intensified, as his right-hand men have deserted the party with hundreds of their supporters,” Sukhbir claimed in a press statement, later.

The SAD president said there were more surprises in store for the Congress after April 2. “The exodus from the Congress is indicative that it is all set to disappear from the political scene of Punjab by the end of the coming Lok Sabha elections,” Sukhbir added.

Both defecting Congressmen said that their joining the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) had jolted Bajwa in Gurdaspur.
