The employees staged the protest outside the Sector-26 office of the department. They also demanded the department to fill 600 posts lying vacant in the department, procure raw material and remove pay anomalies.

Union president Ram Saroop and general secretary Gopal Dutt Joshi addressed the protesters.

They criticised the administration’s argument that the electricity system will improve and complaints of consumers will be attended to immediately after the department is privatised. They termed the administration’s statement as false and misleading.

The union will now organise a meet on June 27 at Bhakna Bhawan in Sector 29, which will be followed by a protest on July 4.
