PU appointments against UGC guidelines: Senate

In the first meeting of newly elected senate of the Panjab University (PU), the members pointed out at the major flaws in appointments saying that the templates being used for the same were not uniform.

In the first meeting of newly elected senate of the Panjab University (PU), the members pointed out at the major flaws in appointments saying that the templates being used for the same were not uniform.

They also pointed out at how the university gave weightage to essential qualification rather than the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC).

However, later, the Senate maintained that its decision is above UGC, as the same is just a regulatory body.

The body also approved extension of upto five years after retirement,which was earlier only limited to three years. The retirement age in PU is 60.

Meanwhile, prof Kaspal Kang and Deepak Kaushik, non-teaching representative,were unanimously elected as the members of board of finance.
