The Akali-BJP government has found the hope in Parminder Singh Dhindsa as the Punjab finance minister to take the state out of the severe financial crisis.
Chief minister Parkash Singh Badal would continue with power, cooperation and vigilance departments, while deputy chief minister has retained home along with excise and taxation that was earlier held by the senior Badal in the previous regime.
Of the new ministers, the BJP’s Bhagat Chuni Lal is the minister for local bodies and medical education and research, Madan Mohan Mittal has got health and family welfare along with the departments of social security and parliamentary affairs.
Anil Joshi is the new minister for industries and commerce and technical education and industrial training, while Jyani holds the portfolios for forests and labour.
Amongst the new Akali ministers, Ajit Singh Kohar has been made the transport minister, besides legal affairs and elections, Sarwan Singh Phillaur given jails and tourism.
Bibi Jagir Kaur has got rural water supply and sanitation, defence services and public grievances, while Sharanjit Singh Dhillon gets PWD. Sikandar Singh Maluka would be the minister for education as well as higher education and languages. Adesh partap Singh Kairon continues as food minister, while Gulzar Singh Ranike retains animal husbandry, dairy development and welfare of SC/BC departments. Bikramjit Singh Majithia has bene taken in as the revenue minister along with information and public relations, non-conventional energy and NRI affairs.
