Education minister Sikandar Singh Maluka said it was a long-pending demand of master-cadre teachers.

With this move, the state government would be able to fill the vacant posts of lecturers in schools, he said. As for the master-cadre posts rendered vacant after promotions, these would be filled soon, he claimed.

Orders have been issued to all district education officers to send lists of vacant posts to the director of public instructions and the director general of school education within a week.

The government has also decided to extend the date to submit applications for state awards to May 25.
