Punjab health minister wants staff against corruption

Surjit Kumar Jyani, Punjab health, social security and women and child development minister, on Thursday, held a departmental introductory-cum-review meeting at Punjab Health Systems Corporation, SAS Nagar.

The meeting was attended by all officers of the social security, women and child development department, including district programme officers, district child development project officers and superintendents (home) of all the districts.

During the meeting, Jyani took stock of various schemes and projects of the department and urged the officers to maintain transparency in the schemes and services being given to the people by the government, while emphasising that it was the foremost duty of the department officials to ensure that the benefits of these schemes reach each and every beneficiary.

He also asked for views, suggestions and problems being faced by the officials while implementing these services, so that the problems could be resolved on priority.

The minister said he was determined and would take all necessary steps to provide an ideal working atmosphere to the officials. However, he also warned that any form of corruption would not be tolerated.

During the meeting, Jagpal Singh Sandhu, principal secretary, social security, women and child development and Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, director, social welfare, gave elaborate presentation to the minister regarding the objectives and services being provided by the department.
