"The move is being contemplated keeping in view the hardships faced by children residing in settlements like dhanis and brick kilns," State education minister Sikander Singh Maluka said in a statement here today.

The facility would also be extended to girls living in remote villages, he said.

Besides this, the department would also finalise a move to merge schools with fewer students with adjoining schools along with the teachers working there, the minister said.

Maluka said the principal secretary (education) has been directed to work out on details for the proposal so that necessary steps can be initiated within time.
