Former Congress MLA from Kotkapura Ripjit Singh Brar on Saturday lambasted PPCC president Partap Singh Bajwa for his "inability" to constitute a "balanced and unbiased" state body of office-bearers which, he said, was full of "nepotism and favourtism".
In a six-page open letter to Bajwa, Brar, who is also the younger brother of senior party leader Jagmeet Singh Brar, said the recent development in the party after the release of the PPCC list had dented the image and morale of the Congress in the state immensely.
"Voice of dissent of even ordinary Congress workers has rent the political atmosphere of Punjab to an extent never witnessed before. The genuine committed worker and the activist of the party pan Punjab feels cheated due to an imbalanced and biased PPCC office-bearers' list."
Brar said, "The central AICC leadership had given you a mandate and a free hand to have all sections of the party adjusted and a broader outline given to you was to have potential Dalit leaders, women and Congressmen having a mass base acceptability given responsibilities to build an organisation in view of the coming Lok Sabha polls."
"You deliberately misguided the central leadership and the confidence they had in you stands badly shaken due to a self-centered list of the PPCC, thus humiliating not only the senior leadership of Punjab but also the grassroots workers of the party. The general perception about you at the time of your appointment as the PPCC chief stands vindicated," said Brar in the letter, adding, "Bajwa kise naal nahee, te Bajwe naal koi nahee (If Bajwa is not with anyone, no one is with Bajwa)."
Brar sought a public apology from Bajwa to the entire Congress in the state and wanted him to rectify the list at the earliest.
