While talking to mediapersons, Makkar said construction work of these streets would be started soon and Punjab education minister Daljit Singh Cheema would lay the foundation stones of these works on November 28.
Makkar said the Improvement Trust would construct the roads at a cost of Rs 4.37 crore while remaining works would be undertaken by the municipal council.
He also informed that the first phase of main Rupnagar bypass had been completed and the second phase would be completed by March next year, as the construction of a high-level bridge over Sutlej river was going on war footing and was near completion.
In reply to a question, he said there were no differences between the Shiromani Akali Dal-BJP alliance, and both parties would contest the municipal council elections jointly.
