The UT education department has made it mandatory for all government schools to get uniform samples approved form the government laboratory beforeissuing payment to uniform suppliers.
The department had recently issued a centralised advertisement on the behalf of 95 government schools, inviting bids from uniform suppliers for the procurement of winter school uniforms. The department had asked interested suppliers to submit their bids to respective schools on or before September 27.
The department said after getting the supply of the uniforms, the schools would send the sample orders to the government laboratory to ensure that the uniform was supplied as per the technical specifications finalised by the department.
“If the samples do not meet the technical specifications, the schools need to cancel the supply orders”, said director of public instructions (schools) Kamlesh Kumar. The technical specifications are available on the education department’s website http://www.chdeducation.gov.in/
To further facilitate suppliers, the department has also allowed suppliers to submit their tenders to different schools at a common venue fixed at Government Girls Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 18, but only before the last three days of the tender’s last date, that is, from September 25 to 27.
