Sirsa varsity accountant, engineer held for graft

Vigilance bureau sleuths arrested two officials of Tau Devi Lal University, Sirsa, for allegedly accepting Rs 75,000 in bribe on Monday. According to the complainant, Harish Kumar, the two men – Satish Kumar Vij, an executive engineer at the varsity, and Pradeep Kumar, an accountant, demanded Rs 2 lakh from him to get his pending dues of Rs 25 lakh cleared by the university.

According to the complainant, Harish Kumar, the two men – Satish Kumar Vij, an executive engineer at the varsity, and Pradeep Kumar, an accountant, demanded Rs 2 lakh from him to get his pending dues of Rs 25 lakh cleared by the university.

Kumar reported the matter to the vigilance bureau. Later, the deal was struck at Rs 75,000, and Kumar asked the two officials to come to his Sector-20 office, where he gave them the money.

Vigilance sleuths then swooped on the scene and recovered the currency notes from Vij’s car. Both have been booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
