The 300-km-long Srinagar-Jammu national highway (NH) was closed on Wednesday due to landslides, triggered by heavy rains in Ramban area early this morning.

Hundreds of vehicles, including those carrying passengers are stranded on the highway, the only road linking Kashmir valley with the rest of the country.
A traffic police official said, landslides in Ramban area forced authorities to suspend the traffic.
The Border Roads Organisation (BRO), responsible for the maintainance of the NH, have pressed into service sophisticated machines and men to put through the highway.
He said, the highway will be open later today if there were no fresh landslides.
