
Teachers' union discuss pending demands with DHE
A delegation of Punjab and Chandigarh College Teachers' Union (PCCTU) discussed their pending demands with director of higher education (DHE), Sandeep Hans here on Tuesday.
Convener of the union, Iqbal Preet Kaur, said the DHE assured them that the advance increments on account of MPhil and PhD degrees (both in service and at the time of joining) would be granted soon. She said the DHE said that childcare leave to the aided college teachers would see the light of day in near future.
Jagwant Singh, member of the union, said the education department had told the delegation that the process of creation of posts for professors in the aided colleges had started .The modalities of the same were being looked into, he said and added that the process of upward review of freezing date for posts in the aided colleges had also started.
District president of the union Ghanshyam Dev said the DHE agreed to their demand that the implementation of the Supreme Court order for grant of increments on account of PhD degree while moving to selection scale should be given to the aided college teachers.
Meanwhile, the PCCTU president PS Gill said the CAS (Career Advancement Scheme) cases from SGGS College, Sector 26, were still lying pending with the DHE's office. He said the registrar (colleges) assured them that they would be cleared soon.
