Speaking during Zero Hour in the state assembly after Congress members raised the issue of unchecked sale of liquor and drugs in Punjab, Tota Singh said there was only one way to control the menace: Make drug test compulsory for candidates before any elections in Punjab.
"What can you do when people who are chief guests on important occasions and cut ribbons are themselves involved in the sale of drugs and also give protection to such elements? We should have drug test for these people just the way sportspersons have it before competing in an event," said Tota Singh to the loud applause from both opposition and treasury benches.
