A truck got stuck when the portion of a road caved in on Pakhowal Road at Vishal Nagar Chowk here on Saturday.

As per sources, the truck was loaded with sand and when it took a turn from Vishal Nagar Chowk, a cave-in appeared. The cave-in was more than 3-4 feet deep. Traffic was also disrupted in the area after this incident.

In the past also, several cave-ins had appeared on this newly constructed road at different places. Residents had found that a telecom firm was installing wires in an illegal manner on this road. The illegal installation of wires was also one of the reasons behind earlier cave-ins.

Executive engineer HS Bhullar said, “There was a gully at the point where the truck got stuck. It will be repaired soon.”
