Two killed in separate road mishaps
Two people were killed in separate road mishaps in Dera Bassi and Zirakpur in the past 24 hours. As per information, Manju (25), son of one Madhu Kumar, hailing from Bihar and presently residing at Kuranwala village, was run over by an unidentified vehicle while crossing the road near Kuranwala on the Barwala road around 4pm on Sunday.

As per information, Manju (25), son of one Madhu Kumar, hailing from Bihar and presently residing at Kuranwala village, was run over by an unidentified vehicle while crossing the road near Kuranwala on the Barwala road around 4pm on Sunday.
He was rushed to the Dera Bassi civil hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. He died of a head injury. The police have started investigations after registering a case.
In another incident, Sarup Chand, a resident of Dhanas in Chandigarh, sustained serious injuries after a truck he was driving collided with a roadside tree near Dayalpura on the Rajpura-Zirakpur highway.
The mishap occurred after the steering wheel developed some technical snag. He was rushed to the Government Medical College and Hospital, Chandigarh, where he succumbed to injuries on Sunday morning. The police have sent the body for post mortem after inquest proceedings in the case.
