
Two men held for issuing fake educational certificates
With the arrest of two men, the UT police claimed to have busted a racket in connection with issuance of fake certificates here on Wednesday.
The police said Baljit Singh, a resident of Raipur Khurd village, had alleged that Narinder Sharma, a resident of Hallomajra took Rs 50,000 and issued him fake marksheets of BA first, second and third year of Monad University, Hapur (UP).
An enquiry was conducted by the operations cell, Sector 26, after Singh filed a complaint.
The documents, issued by Narinder, were verified from Monad University, Hapur (UP), and were found to be fake. After an enquiry, a case of cheating and forgery was registered.
Sharma was arrested on Tuesday. During interrogation, the accused said Naveen Kumar, a resident of Palam Enclave 1, Zirakpur, was supplying fake educational certificates to him and to others as well.
Accused Naveen Kumar was also arrested on Wednesday morning.
After further investigation it has come to light the accused Naveen Kumar is a habitual criminal and in August last year, a cheating and forgery case was registered against him at Sector 17 police station for supplying fake educational certificates in which chargesheet was filed against him in court on January 30, this year.
The accused Narinder Sharma and Naveen Kumar were produced in the district court and were remanded to three-day police custody. Further investigation is in progress.
