A trap was laid following a complaint from Harpreet Singh, a farmer from Kishanpura Kalan village in Moga, that the naib tehsildar was demanding `4 lakh for releasing registry papers of his newly purchased land, a VB spokesman here said. The trap was laid by the VB’s Mohali flying squad team who arrested the accused senior official while he was accepting the money in his office.

A case under sections 7 and 13 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act was registered against the naib tehsildar at Mohali, said superintendent of police (vigilance) Hargobind Singh.
