Makkar, who visited the historic gurdwara Chhevin Patshahi, Kurukshetra, to take stock of its security arrangements, said that the Sikhs would not tolerate any interference in their religious matters.

"Bhupinder Singh Hooda has kept the Sikh sangat in dark that HSGPC was a money Bill and it will lead to direct control of the Haryana government on the shrines. But we will never allow any government to make such anti-Panthic designs," he said.

He also attacked Haryana governor Jagannath Pahadia for giving his assent to a Bill which was over the jurisdiction of state government.

"The development is unfortunate and the Congress party wants to divide the SGPC for its petty political gains. A few Congress-backed Sikhs leaders have shown disrespect to Akal Takht by continuing to demand a separate Sikh panel," he said.
