Woman killed in hit-and-run near Sohana gurdwara

An unidentified woman cyclist was killed after a speeding white Hyundai Verna rammed into her near the Sohana gurdwara in SAS Nagar, on Monday night.

An unidentified woman cyclist was killed after a speeding white Hyundai Verna rammed into her near the Sohana gurdwara in SAS Nagar, on Monday night.

Police estimate the age of the deceased to be around 25, but have not been able to identify the woman, as yet.

The eyewitness, Vikramjit Singh, a resident of Sector-115 in SAS Nagar, said that the woman was on the wrong side of the road en route Sohana gurdwara light point from Sector 69, when the car hit her.

The police was informed and the woman was rushed to the civil hospital in Phase-6, where she was declared brought dead.

He claimed the police took more than 30 minutes to reach the spot.

A case has been registered against unidentified people under sections 304 (causing death due to negligence) and 279 (rash driving) of the Indian Penal Code.
