Police said Ajay was strolling outside the Aroma hotel in Sector 22 in an inebriated condition late on Thursday night. When a girl crossed by him, he asked time from her. The girl told him the time and in the meantime Ajay allegedly claimed that he had a bomb in his bag. The girl went to a police patrol party stationed nearby and told them what the accused was claiming. The police rounded up Ajay and searched his bag, but found nothing objectionable.

The Sector 17 police later booked him under sections 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 507 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.
