VIGIL STEPPED UP ALONG DELHI-HARYANA BORDER

Delhi Police has increased vigil along the city borders as neighbouring Haryana goes to polls on Monday, officials said.

Checking of vehicles along the Delhi-Haryana border has been started to prevent the transportation of illicit liquor during dry days in the poll-bound state, according to a senior police official. “Usually, the border is sealed 24 hours before the conduct of polls, but this time we have started it early and intensified the checking,” joint commissioner of police (western range) Shalini Singh said.

On Friday, a 20-year-old man carrying nine cartons of illicit liquor was arrested from Hiran Kudna, police said.
