1 arrested for gangster’s murder at Hisar court

A man has been arrested in connection with the August 20 killing of a gangster, Vinod, alias Panu, alias Kana, in the parking area of the district court complex, Hisar police said on Friday.

Identified as Ajay Kumar, a resident of Garhi Sorkhi in Hisar, the accused was brought to Hisar on a production warrant from jail, following which a local court sent him to four-day police custody for interrogation.

Police said that after the firing at the court complex on August 20, Ajay fled and was subsequently arrested by Panipat police in connection with a separate case registered under the Arms Act. Hisar police obtained his production warrant and brought him to Hisar before arresting him. Four criminal cases are already registered against Ajay, officials said.

During his police remand, Ajay will be questioned about the motive behind the firing, the sequence of events, his role, the weapon used in the crime and the involvement of other persons, officials added.
